Wow, a Year Really?

I just realized I started this blog almost a year ago…..  My first post was August 30, 2011.  It was this.  “Diving into your first remodel.”  That’s so cute.  If only I had known, I would go on to do the entire house!

About Salt and Sequins….  I started this a year ago when I finished Interior Design school in Denton at North Texas. It’s BEEN A LOT MORE WORK THAN YOU WOULD THINK!  Holy Crap.  Plus, I’m not much of a writer.  But, I’ve got quite a bit of traffic, not as much as I had hoped, but hey, I’ve been really inconsistent in my posting…. I’ve reached 72 countries and over 5000 people.  Which is good, because I only have like 600 facebooks friends and 5000 is WAY more than that, so at least I’m reaching more than my facebook friends! 🙂  In a way, I’m shocked that people from all the world read this thing.  Sorry, I’m totally boring sometimes.

I’ll catch you up to speed on my current life.  We sold our home.  It was only on the market for about 5 weeks.  That five weeks was absolute torture, having to keep your home spotless is absolutely insane and not letting your brand new plants die in July in Texas, also insane.  Here are some before and after of the exterior of the house. This is what the house looked like before we bought it. I could see the potential.

I LOVED the front door…. But I hated that mail slot (and glass door).   Tim filled that in and now it is the cutest door ever!

What the door looked liked at Christmas… not now. Christmas.

So, then the house looked like this until about the beginning of July… Those hedges were terribly boring.

But since the house was on the market, I thought we just had to do something with it, so we painted the exterior and ripped out the hedges.  So cute isn’t it?

Ripping out those hedges was absolute torture.  They were so huge and deeply rooted, that a neighbor used his Diesel Truck to rip them out…. So nice. Well, I will be back more often, but til then, enjoy!
